Book: Remade in the USA: How We Can Restore Jobs, Retool Manufacturing and Compete with the World

Todd Lipscomb spent nearly 15 years in the tech business, overseeing Asian and worldwide operations for Western Digital Corporation. Seeing the serious void in U.S. manufacturing, Lipscomb started his own company,MadeinUSAForever.com, an online store of American made products. A veteran of hundreds of media interviews, Lipscomb is the author of the book REMADE IN THE USA: How We Can Restore Jobs, Retool Manufacturing and Compete with the World, just published by Wiley & Sons.

Topics to be discussed, time permitting:

  • You oversaw Asia Finance for a major USA corporation. What are the factors in the cost difference between Asian and American made products besides wages?
  • What went wrong? Why did all this manufacturing get moved abroad?
  • It sounds like you mean we can still have good wages in the USA and compete with China?
  • Is it environmentally or from a worker safety standard better to make products here in the USA?
  • How do American workers compare?
  • Is it possible to find American made products still? Why is that important?
  • Do manufacturing jobs mathematically help our economy more than service jobs?
  • Can we really make a difference as individuals?
  • Briefly what does government, business, and individuals need to do differently?

It is important to disclose that I hardly promote the book any longer.  The reason for this is because I learned a greater amount of detail about permanent weight management in my PhD studies.  I am pursuing a PhD in Education with a focus in Performance Improvement.  I am in the dissertation phase and my topic is on weight management strategies.  The book is very basic and was written before I began my studies.  I am happy to refer to it, however, I am devoting my efforts to a free online weight loss and weight management course that I wrote.  You are welcome to view the course at www.mypersonaldashboard.net/course.  There is a great deal of theory behind the course and it speaks to the specific causes and challenges of weight loss and control and provides details on how to develop a personalized plan that focuses on permanent lifestyle changes to improve the quality of life.

If after receiving the information about my book and course you would like me to proceed as a guest, I would be excited to participate.

Georgene Dana Collins is a Registered Nurse and Quality Director who is certified in weight management, nutrition, wellness, and weight loss hypnosis who is dedicated to helping others improve the quality of their lives.  Once weighing 280 pounds, she has maintained a weight loss of over 140 pounds since 2005.  Georgene understands the life-long challenges of obesity and yo-yo dieting and is completing her PhD in education to further help others reach their permanent weight management goals
