Holli Kenley is a betrayal recovering expert who helps people rebuild their lives no matter what kind of betrayal they have experienced.  Holli empowers individuals by giving them tools and strategies tailored specifically for recovering from betrayal injury.  Holli’s approach is centered around the philosophy that “victims must right themselves” and not waste a moment making their healing contingent upon their betrayer’s words or actions. Her mission is to focus attention on the true heroes – those  left standing in the shadows of their  betrayers.  Her book, Breaking Through Betrayal:  And Recovering The Peace Within (978-1-61500-009-2) from Loving Healing Press, Inc. is now available through www.Amazon.com and through bookstores via Ingram or New Leaf Distributing. Holli Kenley graduated with High Honors from Chapman University with a Masters degree in Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage, Family and Child Counseling.  As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Holli works largely in the areas of abuse, trauma, grief/loss, addiction, and betrayal.

  • Betrayal has been around since the beginning of time. What made you decide to write Breaking Through Betrayal: And Recovering The Peace Within and why is it important now?
  • You have written a book addressing all kinds of betrayal when most books deal with betrayal and a specific issue such as infidelity?  Why?
  • What is the biggest misconception or myth about the topic of betrayal?
  • What are some of the traps that you see victims of betrayal fall for or into? Why is that?
  • You have stated that “The true hero stands in the shadow of the betrayer.”  What do you mean by that?
  • You have identified 3 debilitating “States of Being” that individuals go through when they have been betrayed.  What are these “3 States of Being”?  How do we break through them?
  • In your book, you have described a 5 part healing program designed specifically for recovery from betrayal. Can you tell us a little about this process?
  • In your book, you tell a short story about a “sail boating” experience and you tie that in with a recovering section of the book.   Can you tell our readers how the two relate?
  • Is forgiveness a critical step in healing from betrayal injury?
  • You seem to like to include metaphors in your writing.  Later on in the recovering section, you compare the individual’s work to that of rebuilding after an earthquake.   Why is that effective and how does an earthquake relate to betrayal?
  • How will an individual know if he/she has really worked through their betrayal injury?
  • What will the reader get from your book that he/she might not get from reading another book on betrayal?
  • Your motto is, “I believe, know, and trust that wellness awaits each of us; we choose the time.”  How is this significant to recovery from betrayal?
  • Holli, you have stated that, “My mission is to empower individuals who have been betrayed to reclaim their voice, to reinstate their self-respect, and to make healing choices based on renewed strength and spirit.”   Aside from promoting your book, what other venues do you plan on pursuing?
